Wii is a video game console produced by Nintendo and released on November 19, 2006. Belonging to the seventh generation of consoles is the direct successor of Nintendo GameCube and competes primarily with systems Xbox 360 from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 from Sony. Nintendo Wii said is aimed at a wider audience unlike the other two consoles mentioned above. Since its debut, the console has outsold its rivals PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and in December 2009 broke the record as the best selling console in a single month in the United States.

The most distinctive feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld device with which you can point, besides being able to detect movement in a three-dimensional plane. Another of its peculiarities is the service WiiConnect24 , which enables you to receive messages and updates over the Internet in standby mode. Additionally, the console can synchronize with the portable Nintendo DS, which allows Wii to take advantage of the touch screen of Nintendo DS as an alternative command.
Since its launch, the console has received awards for its innovation and technology driver built into the game system. Noting the success of Wii some developers worldwide third-party Nintendo apologized for launching low-quality games and have not been optimistic about the system. On April 25th of 2011, Nintendo officially announced through a press release, the development of the successor to Wii titled Wii U. The company confirmed its release to the year 2012.
