The Intercontinental Hotels Group plc is a UK company with headquarters in Denham (near London). The best-known corporate sector is the Holiday Inn hotel chain. With more than 4,300 hotels in nearly 100 countries and a total of almost 630 000 rooms, the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is one of the largest hotel groups in the world. The portfolio of InterContinental Hotels Group brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in the luxury segment, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in the first-class segment, the hotel chain Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, a new brand in the medium price range.
The IHG’s portfolio includes 71 hotels in Germany: five of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza six, and several Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. With Holiday Inn Express tries to map a market leader in budget hotels to be, this Holiday Inn-spin-off is one of the best-selling links in the chain. In Germany alone there are already more than 20 Holiday Inn-Express Hotels. Furthermore, part of the chain, the apartment hotel brands Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. Since 2004, the Indigo brand in the portfolio of InterContinental Hotels Group, a project in the segment of boutique and lifestyle hotel. The first two houses of the brand name “Indigo” in Germany, opened in 2012 in Berlin.
