Despite being a relatively small university, the university has graduated more U.S. presidents in the modern era than any other university. Since 1972, a Yale graduate has been in the race for the presidency. Six college graduates have won the Nobel Prize since 1994.
This project will develop materials and teaching resources (including exams, practical exercises, case studies, etc.), And form study groups at various educational levels. The materials have created a Creative Commons license of type “Attribution-Share Alike” to be freely redistributable. In early 2011, the Spanish Wikiversity has 983 articles.

Housed initially in Wiktionary, started several versions in different languages without official approval. In the English version, some users proposed deletion. This accelerated the process of discussion to try to create an autonomous project of Wikibooks.

A vote on Meta showed that the proposal was supported by a majority of users. <g class="gr_ gr_29 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="29" data-gr-id="29">However</g><g class="gr_ gr_29 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep gr-progress" id="29" data-gr-id="29">,</g> a significant group of skeptics said his doubts, criticisms, and fears. For example, Wikimedia projects, especially Wikibooks, are not yet developed enough to accommodate something of this magnitude.

Some also criticized the content of Wikiversity overlap with those of Wikibooks and Wikiversity that would require software that currently lacks MediaWiki and there seemed no developer willing to implement these changes to the software.

The Board decided not to approve the project until they were modified some aspects of the proposed vision. After lengthy discussions and with the help of a subcommittee established by the Foundation to define more clearly the aims of this proposal, we developed a modified proposal.

With this second proposal, Jimmy Wales announced at the opening of Wikimania 2006 in May that the Board of Directors of the Foundation had approved the creation of this project.

In 1866 the property which is located the university was bought by Henry Durant in his goal of building a private school. Given the financial problems of Durant, he accepted the intrusion of the state of California. The result of such action was the union’s initial project with a public school that the government had promoted. In this mix came the university as it is known. The university received worldwide attention for the first time during the early and <g class="gr_ gr_34 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="34" data-gr-id="34">mid twentieth</g> century, when it experienced a golden age in the physical sciences, chemical and biological weapons.
Stanford University Logo – The Leland Stanford Junior University ( Leland Stanford Junior University in English ), known as Stanford University , located in Palo Alto ( California ), is a private university, considered one of the most prestigious in the United States and the world. It is located about 56 km southeast of San Francisco , on the grounds of Santa Clara County adjacent to the city of Palo Alto . The university is therefore in the geographical and historical heart of Silicon Valley .

Stanford Logo

Stanford was founded by tycoon rail and California Governor Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane Stanford . It was named after her only child, Leland Stanford Jr. , who died of typhoid fever in his teens. Locally known as La Granja ( The Farm ), because the university is located in what was the horse-breeding farm of Leland Stanford. The university opened its doors officially on October 1 of 1891 , a total of 559 students and 15 teachers, seven of which came from Cornell University . Originally it was not charged for instruction, and although the teaching was mixed, the number of women enrolled was limited for several years.

The official motto of the university, selected by the Stanford during the formation of the institution, ” Die Luft der Freiheit Weht “, whose translation of the German is “the wind of freedom”. The phrase comes from the reformer Ulrich von Hutten , and was elected in a time when the German had recently replaced Latin as the language dominant in the humanities and philosophy, a position he would retain until the Second World War .

Stanford was not until the 1930’s a relatively small university and unimportant. Between 1929 and 1933, Herbert Hoover , a graduate of the University, chaired the U.S. in a period marked by economic crisis. In 1939, William Hansen and brothers Russell and Sigurd Varian invented the tube Klystron , a generator of microwave high frequency was based radars World War II. Since then, Stanford has been increasing its international reputation, first through military research projects and then to the entrepreneurial spirit of its faculty and students. Stanford has been the cradle of scientific and technical enterprises as important as Hewlett-Packard , Cisco Systems , VMware , Yahoo! , Google , and Sun Microsystems . In fact, “Sun” was originally short for “Stanford University Network.”

Throughout its history Stanford has twenty-seven winners of the Nobel Prize among its teachers, in areas such as Economics ( Kenneth J. Arrow , Gary Becker , Milton Friedman , Douglass North , Myron Scholes , William Sharpe , Michael Spence , Joseph E. Stiglitz ), Physics ( Felix Bloch , Steven Chu , Robert Hofstadter , Robert B. Laughlin , Douglas Osheroff , Martin Perl , Burton Richter , Arthur L. Schawlow , Richard E. Taylor ), Chemistry ( Paul Berg , Roger Kornberg ) or Medicine ( Andrew Fire , Arthur Kornberg ). Although the work that led them to win the Nobel did not develop in many cases at this university, Stanford has attracted the talent of these Prizes. Stanford is among the top 10 universities in the U.S.. States. in the fields of electrical engineering , computer engineering , economics and business studies and law .

Stanford maintains a healthy and friendly rivalry with the neighboring University of California, Berkeley . This rivalry reached its peak every year with the “Big Game” or party of football between teams from the two universities. Currently the university is the largest private owner of land in the Bay of San Francisco , thanks to the legacy of Stanford. Its grounds are so large they are housing a linear accelerator , a business park with the world headquarters of Hewlett-Packard , and a major medical center.

This is because the number of students at Princeton lower. Many of Prince Tons wealth is used to provide financial support to students. As a result, more than 98 percent of students on campus live in dormitories. First and second year students must attend one of the Residential Colleges, while the third and fourth year usually identified in the appropriate “upperclassman” dormitory housing. The actual dormitories are similar, except that only the Residential Colleges dining rooms. Recently, third-and fourth-year option also received the full four years in a Residential College to spend. Third and fourth year also have the option to live outside campus, but the high rent in the Princeton area encourages almost all students live in university housing. Social life revolves around the Residential Colleges and the ten “Eating Clubs” where students can join in the second semester of their second year. Eating clubs, which are not officially affiliated with the university, have a role as dining rooms and common areas for their members. They also organize parties and other social events throughout the academic year.

princeton university

Prince Tons six Residential Colleges organize a variety of social events, outings and activities, including visiting professors and other prominent people such as Edward Norton , a special sneak preview of Fight Club organized.
Oxford University Logo – The University of Oxford, located in the city of Oxford, United Kingdom, is the university’s oldest English-speaking world. Unknown date of foundation of the university, and perhaps did not exist as a particular event, but there is evidence of teaching activities since 1096. When Henry II of England forbade students English assistance to schools of higher learning in Paris, in the year 1167, Oxford began to grow rapidly.

The foundation of the first residence halls, which then transmuted into the colleges, dates from this time forward. After the murder of two students accused of rape in 1209, the University was dissolved. On June 20th of 1214, the University returned to Oxford with a letter of acceptance negotiated by Nicholas of Romans, Officer Pope, and in 1231 received the letter from <g class="gr_ gr_25 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="25" data-gr-id="25">university</g>.

The main rival of Oxford University is the University of Cambridge, founded soon after. Both institutions are known by the nickname of Oxbridge. Popularly, it is considered to Cambridge top in science subjects, while Oxford is considered superior in humanities, although this is not demonstrable in reality. Both universities belong to the Russell Group of British universities dedicated to research.

The engineering school is recognized as the best in the U.S. and the world by U.S. News & World Report. MIT was ranked worldwide as the best in technology by Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings. The Institute has 76 Nobel laureates among its alumni and faculty (counting only those whose relationship with MIT has exceeded the year-long. If all were included, would be 80). Admission to MIT is extremely <g class="gr_ gr_26 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="26" data-gr-id="26">competitive,</g> and has been classified by The Atlantic Monthly and other publications as the most selective college in the United States.

MIT was founded in 1861 by the geologist William Barton Rogers, who wanted to create a new kind of independent educational institution devoted to the growing industrialization of the United States. The opening of school was delayed by the Civil War in the United States, and admitted its first students in 1865. In the following years, he established a premier reputation in science and engineering, but fell into financial difficulties. These two factors made a favorable idea of merging with Harvard University, who had much money, but had deficiencies in science compared with those letters and liberal arts. In 1904 President Henry S. Pritchett met with Charles W. Eliot, president of Harvard for fusion. But eventually the protests of the students was canceled.
