The next day, on May 15th of 1997 , the new alliance hired the advertising agency Young & Rubicam Advertising to publicize the consortium of airlines, for that spent a total 25 million U.S. dollars . The five airlines began to share the same logo and new slogan : “The Airline Network for Earth” (in Spanish : “The airline network for Earth “), in order to unify the brand image. The airline Brazilian Varig joined the alliance in October of that year.

Also in 2010 , the airline Colombian Avianca , next to the El Salvador TACA were admitidias in Star Alliance Sign in mid- 2012 . Also a former member of SkyTeam , the airline Panamanian Copa Airlines was admitted to enter Star Alliance in mid- 2012 . On December 13, 2011, Ethiopian Airlines joined the Star Alliance network of airlines adding five new countries in Africa and 24 destinations. The K stands for the co-constructor Dieter Koehler. After several changes of ownership since 1991, the company is owned by the German-born Christian Dries, who until November 2010 also director of the company. Building on the motor glider airplanes were now increasingly built: the first two-seater DA20 Katana, then the vierplätzige DA40, the DA42 twin-engine, and currently (2008) is a single-Kleinjet in development. By 2005, a total of more than 3,500 aircraft were produced. There are more than 1,200 employees worldwide, including 580 in the production plant in Wiener Neustadt in Austria, 350 in London in the province of Ontario in Canada , more in the representations / maintenance yards Egelsbach ( Germany ) at Gamston Airport in England and since 2006 in the province Shandong in the People’s Republic of China . This makes it the third largest company in the world that specializes in the production of single-engine light aircraft.

Due to the financial crisis of 2007 , the company ran into trouble. The overall market declined, according to GAMA (General Aviation Manufacturers Association) 2008 by 13 percent. Then the market collapsed in 2009 at minus 57.5 percent completely. Diamond Aircraft produced 2007 or 471 aircraft. In 2008, only 308 and 2009, even only 163 aircraft will be delivered. Beginning of 2009 were 180 jobs (140 in Diamond, 40 in Austro Engine ) on wobbly legs .

In 2010 it was already up again. Thus, only 120 machines have been delivered from Wiener Neustadt in this year. They were already all with where the Diamond Group company Austro Engine equipped engines produced. A large part of the aircraft are special versions that are used for border surveillance, or for environmental protection for observation.

During a delayed credit supplied by the Canadian Government Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. announced in March 2011 213 of the 380 employees at the Canadian location in London, Ontario temporarily free . In May 2011 the newly elected Canadian government finally refused required for the production of the new D-JET loan of $ 35 million . As a result, took Medrar Financial Group from Dubai in the UAE, the majority of the North American subsidiary of Diamond Group. In 2011, Diamond was able to increase the number of 139 in 2010 to 185th.
